Introduction to the Board

The Skills 360˚ Board provides direction and strategic support for the delivery of our ambitious Strategic Economic Plan, Gatwick 360˚, specifically the actions within Priority 4: Create Skills for the Future, where we seek to boost the productivity of our economy by giving people the skills they need to secure and maintain high quality jobs.

Skills Advisory Panels

The Skills 360˚ Board will act as the Skills Advisory Panel (SAP) for the Coast to Capital area, bringing together employers and skills providers to understand and address key local skills challenges, with the aim of developing evidence based analysis to advise and support providers to deliver the skills required by employers.

This will be achieved by ensuring SAPs have strong governance arrangements and meaningful analytical capability to:

  • generate analysis of their local skills and labour markets to understand the local position
  • discuss and agree local skills needs priorities in the short-term and more longer-term
  • consider how these will be met through local provision over time
  • support the production of strong ‘people pillar’ section of Local Industrial Strategies

Skills and Labour Market Research Project

The Skills and Labour Market Research Project is an exciting opportunity for the Coast to Capital area to gain valuable intelligence and build an evidence base report on the current and future demand for and supply of skills within the local area. This research will feed into and support the development of the ‘people’ section of the Coast to Capital Local Industrial Strategy, as well as the work towards the Gatwick 360˚ priority to Create Skills for the Future.

The first stage of the project is now taking place and an initial desk based research analysis is being conducted. We will be holding a series of research workshops in July 2019 which we would like to invite senior stakeholders to attend, to discuss the data and collect qualitative feedback to supplement the data in the final report.

The workshops will be geographically focused and locations have been chosen across the LEP area.
