Call for Members

Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership is pleased to be recruiting two further members for the newly formed Skills 360˚ Board. One each from the independent training provider sector and the community and voluntary sector.

The purpose of the Skills 360˚ Board is to provide direction and strategic support for the delivery of our ambitious Strategic Economic Plan, Gatwick 360˚, specifically the actions within Priority 4: Create Skills for the Future, where we seek to boost the productivity of our economy by giving people the skills they need to secure and maintain high quality jobs.

Skills Advisory Panels

The Skills 360˚ Board will act as the Skills Advisory Panel for the Coast to Capital area, bringing together employers and skills providers to understand and address key local skills challenges, with the aim of developing evidence based analysis to advise and support providers to deliver the skills required by employers.

This will be achieved by ensuring SAPs have strong governance arrangements and meaningful analytical capability to:

  • generate analysis of their local skills and labour markets to understand the local position
  • discuss and agree local skills needs priorities in the short-term and more longer-term
  • consider how these will be met through local provision over time
  • support the production of strong ‘people pillar’ sections of Local Industrial Strategies

Being a member of the Skills 360˚ Board offers the opportunity to influence the way in which we create skills for the future in the Coast to Capital area. We are at a time of significant change in the UK as we move towards our exit of the European Union. This along with an ageing population and rapid advances in technology mean the skills debate is urgent and requires an innovative approach more so than ever before.

Your membership of the Skills 360˚ Board will involve you in policy and decision making at a regional level, helping to shape our negotiation of a Local Industrial Strategy with Government. You will support us to identify the major skills and recruitment challenges we currently face and to be a part of the solution. Your networks and influence will bring us the recognition and investment we need to deliver high quality skills education and training in the Coast to Capital area.

Who we are looking for

We are therefore looking to recruit a senior leader, CEO, Chair or Director/Trustee of an independent training provider and a community and voluntary sector organisation to represent the views and interests of their respective sectors, to support understanding of the provision available in the area and to identify where future investment is needed.

Coast to Capital is committed to creating an inclusive organisation that promotes and values diversity.  Applications are welcome from under-represented groups and female leaders are encouraged to apply.  We are looking for senior candidates and these roles would appeal to experienced leaders who can help to maximise the region’s potential and offer an exciting opportunity to someone who is committed to creating an environment where business can flourish.

We are grateful for the support and expertise of Nick Juba, CEO of Greater Brighton Metropolitan College and Coast to Capital Board member, in establishing the Skills 360˚ Board.

For further information please see the Skills 360˚ Board member recruitment information pack in the ‘related resources’ section of this page.

Please send a CV and a covering letter setting out your interest in the role and how you would fulfil our requirements to Claire Witz at by close of play on Monday 28 January 2019.
