Introduction to the Board

The Skills 360˚ Board provides direction and strategic support for the delivery of our ambitious Strategic Economic Plan, Gatwick 360˚, specifically the actions within Priority 4: Create Skills for the Future, where we seek to boost the productivity of our economy by giving people the skills they need to secure and maintain high quality jobs.

Skills Advisory Panels

The Skills 360˚ Board will act as the Skills Advisory Panel (SAP) for the Coast to Capital area, bringing together employers and skills providers to understand and address key local skills challenges, with the aim of developing evidence based analysis to advise and support providers to deliver the skills required by employers.

This will be achieved by ensuring SAPs have strong governance arrangements and meaningful analytical capability to:

  • generate analysis of their local skills and labour markets to understand the local position
  • discuss and agree local skills needs priorities in the short-term and more longer-term
  • consider how these will be met through local provision over time
  • support the production of strong ‘people pillar’ section of Local Industrial Strategies

Call for Local Authority Business Representative

We currently have a vacancy for a local authority representative, and are looking to recruit a senior individual to represent the views and interests of public business, to support understanding of the skills needs of businesses and to identify where investment is needed.

Being a member of the Skills 360˚ Board offers the opportunity to influence the way in which we create skills for the future in the Coast to Capital area. We are at a time of significant change in the UK as we move towards our exit of the European Union. This, along with an ageing population and rapid advances in technology, mean the skills debate is urgent and requires an innovative approach more so than ever before.

Your membership of the Skills 360˚ Board will involve you in policy and decision making at a regional level, helping to shape future skills priorities and actions. Your networks and influence will bring the recognition and investment we need to deliver high quality skills education and training in the Coast to Capital area.

The deadline for applications has been extended to 30 March 2020.

Full details of the role, required experience and how to apply can be found in the Board Member Recruitment Information document in the 'Related Resources' section of this page.

The reports can be found here and also on the related resources section of this page.
