Coast to Capital has a number of funding, grant and loan opportunities available to private sector and public sector organisations to support business growth in Croydon, East Surrey, Gatwick Diamond, Brighton & Hove, Lewes and West Sussex. This funding comes from our allocation from the Government's Growth Deal and the European Structural & Investment Fund which both support business growth.

Below is a list of the funding and grant opportunities currently available in the Coast to Capital area.

  • Broadband Connection Vouchers - If you are a business based in West Sussex you could benefit from a voucher of up to £3,000 to meet the capital costs of a superfast broadband connection to your premises? If you can complete and pay for the work by 31st March then you could be eligible. The scheme is now open and will run until 1st February 2017 or until the available budget has been allocated, whichever is sooner.


  • Coast to Capital Region Business Growth Grants - The 2016-17 round of funding is currently closed for applicants. The Coast to Capital Region Business Growth Grants Programme for 2017-18 will launch in 2017 and we will be looking for Small and Medium (SME) sized businesses that want to grow and to create new jobs. £1,250,000 is available for this financial year and applications close on 24 September 2017.


  • European Structural Investment Funds - Coast to Capital secured €61.2m (£52m) of ESIF funding for the period 2014-2020.
  • *£24.7m European Regional Development Fund (ERDF);
  • *£23.2m European Social Fund (ESF), and;
  • *£3.8m European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).


  • FSE Funding Escalator Fund - Coast to Capital has committed £5 million to create a new funding escalator comprising a loan scheme and an equity fund managed by The FSE Group. If you are an ambitious SME based in the Coast to Capital region with the potential to deliver high growth and employment opportunities, you may be eligible to apply.


  • Growing Places Investment Fund - Coast to Capital is seeking projects that have been stalled, due to the lack of investment, to come forward. The Board is calling both public and private sectors to take this opportunity to consider the schemes they may have on their books.The Board is looking for projects that will be ready to implement in the short term and will create or unlock job creation. The Fund is designed to be a revolving fund, so the process of receiving and evaluating projects will be an ongoing one.


  • West Sussex LEADER Grants - The LEADER scheme is part of the Rural Development Programme. Grant funding is awarded to local businesses and organisations to help them carry out projects which create jobs and benefit the rural economy.
