A skills development champion has joined the Coast to Capital team with the task of driving forward the local enterprise partnership's skills agenda.

The new recruit will play a key role in implementing Coast to Capital's Skills Strategy, working closely with partners in the private and public sectors.

 

Kirsten Trussell was an education and skills partnership adviser at Brighton and Hove City Council for more than seven years before joining the LEP. She has also worked as an employment and life skills tutor for Nacro Brighton and as diversionary activities co-ordinator for Hove YMCA's youth inclusion project.

 

In her new role, she will be responsible for leading on Coast to Capital's objectives of allocating skills capital funding and working with partners to ensure Coast to Capital is a leading LEP in respect of skills development.


Kirsten says: "I am passionate about skills development and I'm excited about the prospect of focusing on the wider skills strategy being implemented by Coast to Capital. I hope to use my experience in community, employer and stakeholder engagement to influence the skills development required for the region to meet its economic potential."

 

Coast to Capital chief executive, Ron Crank, said: "Kirsten is an excellent addition to the team and we look forward to benefiting from her prior experience. We've got some fantastic projects in the pipeline that will help people to learn, earn and fill the many new jobs our Growth Deal will create. Her appointment is a big step forward in ensuring providers are delivering the skills that our local businesses need."
