Chief Executive welcomes today's announcement that the coastal towns will receive funding from the Government's Coastal Communities Fund.

Ron Crank, Chief Executive, of Coast to Capital LEP has welcomed today's announcement that the coastal towns of Brighton, Shoreham and Bognor Regis will receive over £230k funding from the Government's Coastal Communities Fund.

 

  • £49,951 Transforming Bognor Regis pier into a high-quality destination
  • £40k Creation of a digital and creative hub for new digital start-up
    businesses in Bognor Regis railway station
  • £44,600 Brighton Hippodrome theatre to be brought back into use for live performance and events
  • £50K Madeira Dive, Brighton will be re-developed to deliver private investment, new business and jobs to the area
  • £50K Shoreham Fort feasibility analysis to showcase its potential as a vibrant and effective local visitor attraction

These are among over 70 other successful projects in the UK that have been granted part of the £3m coastal revival fund announcement.

 

Ron Crank said: "This investment is great news for our seaside towns to help secure their long-term future. The coastal economy is very important to our region and towns such as Brighton and Bognor are a priority for Coast to Capital. These places need to be an attractive prospect for visitors and investors alike and projects of this kind will not only make them a more attractive tourist destinations and business prospect but will help create jobs too."

 

The Budget announced that the Coastal Communities Fund will be extended for another 5 years from 2017 to 2018, with pot of at least £90 million, giving communities another chance to bid for funding.

 

Due to the exceptional quality of the bids received, another £1 million coastal revival funding will be available in 2016 to 2017 for projects that narrowly missed out being selected. Further details will be announced in due course.
