Gatwick opens applications for graduate engineering programme

• Airport's engineering graduate programme is in partnership with three leading universities
• The three year programme offers experience working across all areas of the engineering and construction functions within the business
• First year that applications have opened up for Quantity Surveying candidates

 

Gatwick is offering aspiring engineers from across the UK the opportunity to apply for its graduate programme and help take forward the next stage of the airport's £2.5bn transformation.

 

The programme, which is publically open for graduates nationwide to apply for, is also in partnership with the University of Brighton, University College London and Imperial College London and will see three engineering graduates join Gatwick's engineering team each year. The selected universities were chosen for providing renowned excellence in engineering studies.

 

Applications for Civil Engineers, Electrical and Electronic Engineers, Mechanical Engineers and, for the first time, Quantity Surveyors are all now open.

 

Gatwick will provide mentoring and support for each graduate to gain Chartered Engineer status, as well as further professional development opportunities. This complements Gatwick's well-established engineering apprenticeship programme, which celebrates its 40th anniversary next year.

Further opportunities will be made available for each graduate to go on secondment with one of the airport's contractor partners.

 

Graduate Rob Maasz has become a Field Engineer through the programme and said that on the job learning was a crucial part of his goal towards becoming a Chartered engineer, saying:

 

"The programme has given me the opportunity to experience a wide range of challenging projects covering all the attributes required of a professional engineer.

 

"The mentorship at Gatwick is excellent and has already enable me to achieve Incorporated Engineer membership with The ICE and take on more responsibility as I work towards full Chartered accreditation."
