Business Representative (SME Champion)

Phil is Managing Director of Brighton-based digital, media and technology support business Wired Sussex. Wired Sussex works with over 2,000 companies from TV producers to games developers to web designers helping them create, innovate and grow. Prior to Wired Sussex, Phil was worldwide managing director of the Extreme portfolio of media businesses, which he took from a small TV company to an international media brand including 5 TV channels, an online business and a music arm.

 

Phil has also served on the boards of MTV and Mind's Eye Media, started Atomic Media in partnership with Bob Geldof and worked in a strategy position for News Corporation. He is an alumnus of the University of Sussex, has advised the European Union on multiplatform content strategy and currently chairs the advisory board for the University of Brighton UCH Media Enterprise Centre.

 

He has a keen interest in how digital technology (and the new thinking that flows from that technology) can help all sectors in the coast to capital area to create a more prosperous region, how innovation can drive growth and how smaller businesses can be supported more effectively. Phil is also our SME repreentive. 

 

Phil lives in Brighton with his partner and their young son with whom he enjoys playing air guitar along to Thin Lizzy and other assorted rockers.
