Deputy Leader of Surrey County Council
Colin's background is within the motor trade industry; which he entered in to after leaving school - remaining in the industry until 2015. He started his journey as an apprentice mechanic, working his way up to senior management, and eventually starting his own business in 2006.
Colin became a Surrey County Councillor in 2013, as well as Woking Borough Councillor in 2014. His focus on the County to date has been communities and resident engagement, and he chaired the Resident Experience Board from 2015-2017. Colin has also been the local lead on Youth Services; engaging with young people through education and youth service commissioners as he feels passionately about the need to invest in young people for the benefit of their futures and for the strength of tomorrow's communities.
Colin is portfolio holder at Woking Borough Council for housing and after re-election in 2017, joined Surrey's Cabinet team as Cabinet Member for Highways. In December 2018 he became Deputy Leader for Surrey County Council and is now the Cabinet Member for Economic Growth.
