Three businesses in the Coast to Capital area have received a new Queen's Award for Enterprise, recognising their contribution to international trade, innovation and sustainable development.

Today (21 April 2016) Businesses Secretary Sajid Javid announced The Wates Group, Willard Conservations Ltd and Cash Bases Ltd were among 243 winners of the prestigious business awards.

 

Willard Conservations is a British manufacturer of unique world-class conservation tools and equipment for fine art and heritage. The Chichester firm won a Queen's Award for international trade by demonstrating they have benefited from substantial growth in overseas earnings and commercial success within their sector.

 

Based in Newhaven Cash Bases Ltd has won an innovation award for their SMARTtill Cash Management Solution. The SMARTtill Solution is an intelligent cash drawer that continually monitors the amount of coins and notes it contains and automatically reconciles the cash to the sales transactions. The innovation has led to growth in sales and staff numbers, plus high profile orders from Tesco and expansion into the USA.

The Wates Group, one of the UK's largest family-owned construction and development companies based in Leatherhead, was one of just seven businesses recognised for its contribution to sustainable development.

 

Jonathan Sharrock, Chief Executive of Coast to Capital LEP said; "It's great to see that three successful and very different businesses based in our area have been rewarded for their contribution to enterprise and for their hard work in creating jobs for people and helping drive growth in our local economy."

 

2016 marks the 50th anniversary for the winners of the Queen's Awards scheme in what is also her Majesty the Queen's 90th birthday year. The winning businesses will also be able to use the esteemed Queen's Awards emblem for the next five years.
