In July Coast to Capital moved to a new office in Three Bridges and took the opportunity to create a new space with sustainability and working together at its heart.

The office move completes the implementation of the bold new brand for Coast to Capital.  The new brand has been designed to help communicate the organisation’s ambitious vision and also demonstrates the importance of working together with external stakeholders to make a positive impact.  The office is designed to support and facilitate collaborative working with booths and discussion spaces and features the new logo, designs and visuals.  Partners are also able to use the hot-desk space to work with the Coast to Capital team.

Rather than purchase new furniture Coast to Capital worked with Rype Office to refurbish existing items and remanufacture brand name products back to as-new condition avoiding 440 kg of waste and 1,351 kg of C02e (embodied carbon).  The desk chairs in the hot-desking area came from SSE and were re-upholstered and the frames for the tables in the collaboration space came from Marks and Spencer.

The boxing for the booths was manufactured by the Merthyr Tydfil Institute for the Blind (MTIB).  MTIB is a registered charity, which started as a sheltered workshop for 14 blind miners in 1923.  It now supports over 250 people with all kinds of disabilities and health conditions from South and Mid Wales.  The fabric is 100% recycled material and the booths are a Rype Office proprietary design.

Coast to Capital’s corporate charity for 2019 is The Marine Conservation Society and sustainability is also central to how the new office operates.  Plastic use is being reduced by using refillable washing up liquid and cleaning products.  As well as providing the usual recycling facilities Coast to Capital is also recycling crisp packets and is taking steps to reduce its paper use in all of its processes.

Jonathan Sharrock, Chief Executive at Coast to Capital said:

“Coast to Capital’s new office marks a new chapter for the company.  We are committed to increasing national awareness of and investment in our region.  Environmental awareness is a key part of the future economy, and our new office shows our commitment to our staff and to delivering the highest standards of sustainability in everything that we do.”

Dr Greg Lavery, Director of Rype Office said:

“Coast to Capital was a pleasure to work with. They are committed to delivering sustainable growth in their region and their office reflects that.  Using remanufactured furniture and furniture made by social enterprises like the Merthyr Tyfil Institute for the Blind demonstrates their commitment to community and the environment.

We hope that they enjoy their wonderful new workspace which now beautifully reflects their dynamic role in creating a better future.”
