An enterprise expert has been appointed to the Board of Coast to Capital.
Julie Kapsalis has worked in economic development and community engagement for the past 12 years with a particular focus on enterprise and social inclusion. She has also served as an advisor to the UK Government's task force on women's enterprise and has been a regular contributor to the National Business Incubation Association, including speaking at their international conferences on best practice to support business start-ups.
Mrs Kapsalis said: "Coast to Coast LEP has set itself a challenging agenda to drive job creation and sustainable economic growth across the region. I am excited by the opportunities identified and I am passionate about helping drive forward the transformation of our local economy. I am also immensely proud to have been asked to contribute to Coast to Capital's efforts and am looking forward to working with members of the Board, its partners and stakeholders."
Julie has also worked as director of business programmes at the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA), managing budgets in excess of £60 million per annum and a portfolio of contracts including Business Link and Finance South East.
In 2012, the mother-of-two fulfilled a long-held ambition to work on the London 2012 Olympics and managed a major legacy programme to encourage volunteering and community engagement in sport. She was recently appointed as director of business development and employer engagement at Guildford College Group.
Coast to Capital chairman John Peel OBE leads the board of in shaping and driving the LEP's strategies. He said: "Julie is an outstanding addition to the Coast to Capital board. She will bring special expertise to the LEP in the areas of enterprise, innovation and social inclusion. We look forward to hearing her ideas on how these important issues can be tackled."
