Coast to Capital held a 'Big Debate' last week where businesses and organisations from key sectors discussed the big issues and strategic opportunities emerging from research on the area's Local Industrial Strategy. The Coast to Capital Local Industrial Strategy will put forward ideas, opportunities for funding and establish new ways of partnership working to help the area succeed.

Coast to Capital recently held a consultation on the draft Economic Profile which highlights key economic goals such as championing sustainable growth, improving digital connectivity and tackling the skills shortage.

At the event, audience members proposed solutions to a number of strategic problems such as how to improve our local urban centres and build a more sustainable economy. Ideas included increasing opportunities to learn advanced and innovative skills across the area and improving transport mobility to attract and retain people.

Jonathan Sharrock, Chief Executive at Coast to Capital said:

"We were delighted to be able to share progress on Local Industrial Strategy research with partners. Working collaboratively with the local community is vital to understanding how our area works and what we can do to succeed together. I'm looking forward to sharing the next steps in the New Year."

The Local Industrial Strategy will be finalised in March 2020. For more information and regular updates visit coast2capital.org.uk/strategy
