Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) is one of the 39 LEPs established by Government in 2011. They provide leadership, investment and business support to increase productivity and generate sustainable and inclusive growth.
Coast to Capital has provided vital support to Shoreham Port in recent years to enable the Port to expand its property portfolio and cargo handling facilities.
In June 2015 Shoreham Port received a grant from Coast to Capital, under the Regional Growth Fund to create additional space on its Power Station Quay to utilise its capacity for cargo handling. The funding ensured that the project could go ahead and created new employment opportunities for local people.
Since the work was completed Shoreham Port has been able to accommodate multiple shipments and a wide range of cargoes, confirming the development as a very worthwhile investment.
In April 2017 the Port completed the purchase of Maritime House, a thriving business centre based on Basin Road North, with the help of a £1.1 million grant from Coast to Capital. The addition of Maritime House to the Port's extensive commercial property estate has increased the range of accommodation it can offer to local businesses and secured the future of Maritime House for new and existing tenants.
To thank Coast to Capital for their on-going support, the Port hosted a boat tour starting in the West Arm, exploring the latest flood defence works by the Environment Agency, and concluding in the East Arm/canal to view the various terminals and action on the quays.
