This project is being supported by Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership with an investment of around £2.3 million. This skills focused investment will improve Plumpton College’s infrastructure and its resources, providing state of the art farm equipment and tractors to equip students for the industry along with further digital infrastructure for virtual learning. The investment will also contribute to creating a farm employer training area to work with employers.
Our support will enable Plumpton College to further its reputation as a successful specialist land-based College while creating and safeguarding 74 jobs for the local area and creating 225 square metres of commercial floorspace. These developments will also allow 800 additional learners and 200 additional apprentices to attend the college and make use of the new 1,400 square metres of refurbished training and learning facilities.
Jonathan Sharrock, Coast to Capital Chief Executive said:
“We are extremely pleased to be supporting Plumpton College to enhance its estate and to help contribute towards providing improved training and educational facilities, which will help benefit a large number of students”.
Jeremy Kerswell, Principal of Plumpton College said:
“International and national influences are driving significant change in the land based and rural sectors that Plumpton has served for so long and means that there is a need for more people to work in our sector with specialist training at higher levels than ever before. The funding provided by Coast to Capital will ensure we are able to continue to train our students to meet these needs using the latest state of the art equipment”.
