An investment of £25,000 has been confirmed by Coast to Capital LEP to help obtain planning permission for transformation of the Arundel Lido site. This project will enhance and expand the facilities to enable the site to remain open all-year. With the growing popularity of open-water swimming this project will also extend the swimming season to at least six months a year rather than four months.

A wellbeing centre will also be constructed with a gymnasium, large multi-purpose hall and an indoor café where local people can come together and socialise. The facilities also include heated indoor changing rooms with showers, toilets and lockers. The expected construction start date is February 2019.

This project will result in the employment of a total of 11 permanent full-time staff and longer part-time casual employment for lifeguards and kiosk assistants, who will both be required for an extra two months each year.

Jonathan Sharrock, Coast to Capital Chief Executive said:

"We are excited to be supporting this project and to be able to contribute to the expansion of business opportunities at the Lido as well as attracting more visitors into Arundel."

David Wood, Chairman of the Charitable Trust which runs the Lido, said:

"We are truly grateful to Coast to Capital LEP for helping us take this this exciting project forward. The benefits to the local economy and to local people should be considerable."
