Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership has launched three new European Social Fund (ESF) calls for applications totalling £7 million. These calls are in response to a need for leadership and management skills in small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), and to facilitate graduate internships for SME growth in the priority sectors of Creative, Digital and IT, Health and Life Sciences, Environmental Technologies, Financial and Business Services, and Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering, within the Coast to Capital LEP area.

The three calls break down into the following specifications and ESF values:

  • Leadership and Management Skills for Managers, Team Leaders and Supervisors - £3 million
  • Leadership and Management Skills for Business Leaders, and Owner Managers - £2.18 million
  • Graduate Internships for SME growth and Employability Skills - £1.845 million

Projects must be matched at a rate of 50% and total project value must be at least £1 million per project (£500,000 ESF). Projects should also plan to deliver activity for a maximum of 3 years. Applications will be assessed after the closing date of Friday 20 October 2017.

Coast to Capital European Structural and Investment Funding Sub-Committee Chairman Helyn Clack urged all involved to:

"help ensure that we make the most of these valuable opportunities for progression and training designed to improve the skills set within our area. European Social Fund support makes feasible what is otherwise often impossible in challenging times when public funding is at an absolute premium and we need to find new and innovative ways to tackle issues such as increasing workplace productivity".
