Queens Square will reopen shortly - and we're having a party to celebrate! Everyone's welcome to join in the fun from 12 noon on Saturday 7 October.

This family-friendly celebratory event will include professional singing, dancing, music from a concert band, street performers, face painting, balloon art and much more.

Metrobus will be bringing its special 70th birthday bus along, Queens Square shops will be getting involved and we'll be switching on the fountains for the first time since work is completed too!

Decathlon, which is celebrating its first birthday, is joining in the fun with sporting activities and giveaways in the square.

"Come along to our family fun day, listen to music, play some games and see the amazing fountains too!"

Work has almost finished on the £3.2m regeneration scheme to create a high quality, inviting, distinctive and enjoyable public space in the heart of the town centre. This is a joint project between Crawley Borough Council, West Sussex County Council and the Coast to Capital Local Economic Partnership.

The regeneration includes new high quality paving, new and improved lighting, new seating, new street furniture, new planting and a central focal point including an attractive plaza and decorative water feature.

Jonathan Sharrock, Coast to Capital Chief Executive, said:

"I am delighted to be attending the highly anticipated Queens Square opening event. Crawley has huge potential and this event will be a fantastic opportunity for local residents and businesses to enjoy the newly regenerated square and will demonstrate the town's potential for future development and growth."

Councillor Peter Smith, Cabinet member for Planning and Economic Development at Crawley Borough Council, said:

"Work on Queens Square is nearly complete so we're throwing a party to celebrate its reopening!"

Councillor Bob Lanzer, West Sussex County Council Cabinet Member for Infrastructure and Highways, said:

"After all the hard work that's gone into making the Queens Square regeneration scheme a success, it's time to celebrate Crawley town centre's fantastic new asset and have some fun."
